DJ Shawn Cullen
DJing professionally since 2001, I’ve performed more than 800 events across the Northeast. Music has been part of my life since childhood, from my dad singing around the house to the weekend parties that inspired me to start mixing tapes at 15. Weddings are my favorite events to DJ. It’s the energy, emotion, and the chance to help two people celebrate the start of their life together.
I read the room through small cues like tapping feet or a nodding head and lean into upbeat mixes of popular songs. Couples describe me as friendly, attentive, and easy to work with. I meet with clients more than once before the wedding, check in throughout the night, and make sure they have everything they need. Helping vendors, supporting the couple, and keeping the day running smoothly is part of how I work.
A few moments stand out, including DJing at the cabin featured in On Golden Pond and helping save a wedding during a major windstorm by securing a backup venue and running a ceremony without power.
Favorite Moment: Saving a wedding during a power outage and watching the couple’s ceremony unfold exactly as they imagined.
DJ Dennis Boyd Jr
I’ve been DJing since 2012 and have performed more than 200 events. It all started when a colleague asked if I could DJ a middle‑school dance, and thousands of dollars in gear later, I discovered how much I love crafting events and delivering quality service for once‑in‑a‑lifetime moments.
I DJ 8–10 school dances per season and 14–20 weddings per year. School dances bring infectious energy, but I love the planning and precision that weddings require. I read the room, keep people dancing, and blend throwbacks from the 70s–2000s with new music to keep things fresh.
I’m not in this for glory. I’m here to take care of people and keep their celebrations going strong. Clients describe me as organized, prepared, flexible, and easy to work with. I meet with couples twice before the event, arrive early, handle any “oops” moments, and usually end the night with a hug from the newlyweds.
I’ve performed as a singer at Carnegie Hall, Broadway theaters, and across Europe, and DJ’d at venues throughout Maine and New Hampshire.
Favorite Moment: A 94‑year‑old grandma tearing up the dance floor to “Gin and Juice” with her grandkids.
DJ Ortiz (Josh Ortiz)
I’ve been DJing since the 1990s and performing professionally since 2017, with hundreds of events across New England and beyond. I started getting into DJing in the 1990s… watching how a DJ could control the energy of an entire room. Growing up in Queens as a Puerto Rican kid surrounded by hip‑hop, R&B, funk, soul, disco, freestyle, salsa, and merengue shaped my open‑format style and love for blending genres.
I DJ weddings, school dances, proms, corporate events, private parties, clubs, and festivals. I mix live, scratch, blend, use wordplay, and read the room to take crowds on a musical journey. My goal isn’t just to play great songs. It’s to connect those songs together, read the crowd, control the energy, and create a musical experience. I’m comfortable across hip‑hop, R&B, pop, dance, Latin, throwbacks, country, and more.
I’ve earned recognition as a finalist in the Both Lighting Beat Down DJ Competition, won the mixing round, and performed at the Both Lighting USA booth at DJX 2026. I’ve also DJ’d the VIP section at New Hampshire Motor Speedway during a NASCAR event. Clients tell me they appreciate my energy, professionalism, and ability to play something for everyone without losing the dance‑floor momentum.
Favorite Moment: Performing live at DJX 2026 after winning the mixing round.
DJ Jay Kerouac
I’ve been DJing since 2005, with roots that go all the way back to spinning my first middle‑school dance in the early 90s. Music runs in my family — my grandfather owned an AM radio station, both my parents were radio DJs, and I grew up surrounded by music and broadcasting. I carried the torch through college, DJing the Plymouth bar scene and playing for crowds from all over the world.
Today, I DJ weddings, host karaoke five nights a week, and perform at bars, clubs, and private events. I love mixing genres, taking requests, and reading the room to keep the dance floor moving. I gravitate toward 90s/2000s hip‑hop and R&B, EDM, mashups, and pop‑punk, and I avoid country unless there’s a remix that fits the vibe.
Couples tell me they appreciate how closely I listen — I play their must‑plays, honor their preferences, and build the exact energy they want. I stay in communication from booking through the wedding day, making sure every detail is dialed in.
Favorite Moment: Djing a private party alongside an American Idol finalist. A surreal, unforgettable collaboration!
DJ Scott D Rock (Scott Flanagan)
I started DJing professionally in 2024 and have already performed 20 events. Music has been part of my life since childhood, from 8‑tracks and mix tapes to learning turntables at 12 and DJing again while serving in the military. I’ve always loved discovering new music, making mixes, and reading a room, which made DJing a natural fit.
I DJ school events, birthday parties, weddings, and I’m also a house DJ for a local bar/club. Weddings are my favorite because I love creating memories that last a lifetime. My style is open‑format and high‑energy with quick transitions, mashups, and recognizable hits flipped in unexpected ways to keep the crowd moving.
Clients describe me as a master crowd‑reader who keeps momentum high. I walk couples through their vision, must‑plays, do‑not‑plays, and overall vibe, staying available throughout planning.Regions: New Hampshire & Maine
Favorite Moment: Saving a wedding when the planner didn’t show, keeping the couple calm and making the day seamless.
DJ Russ Zonderman
I’ve been an event DJ since 2003, with roots in radio, vocal performance, and live music. I grew up in South Weymouth singing in vocal groups and bands, then moved into Boston radio, club work, and even introducing national acts on stage. I was once selected as one of the top 25 voices in Boston to audition as the voice of Fenway Park.
I DJ everything from weddings and corporate events to mitzvahs, school functions, block parties, and street festivals. My style is all about letting the music speak, finding the right vibe, building energy, and getting the dance floor alive. I love challenges, whether it’s a tricky setup, a hard‑to‑find song, or diving into a genre I don’t normally play.
Clients tell me I “get” them, the music is spot-on, communication is fast, and the dance floor stays packed. I’ve DJ’d all over New England, from barns and basements to boats and island venues.
Favorite Moment: Doing the worm at a wedding after a packed, nonstop dance floor. I had to honor the bride’s request!
DJ ThinkFishTank (Steve Corning)
I’ve been a full‑time entertainer my entire adult life, performing at more than 1,500 live events across the US and internationally. I started DJing professionally in 2021, bringing my background as a touring variety performer and electronic music producer into the DJ world. Since then, I’ve played clubs, festivals, and more than 50 weddings.
I mix live, read the room constantly, and blend high‑energy dance‑pop with nostalgic disco and funk. My roots are in EDM, house, bass, and breaks, so I’m a great fit for couples who love club culture or festival vibes. I’m known for clean transitions, seamless genre blending, and detail‑oriented planning that keeps the dance floor packed all night. I’ve performed at iconic venues across the US and have upcoming dates in South Africa.
Favorite Moment: A rain‑to‑sun ceremony where the weather kept shifting. We moved the ceremony setup inside, then back outside again at the last minute. Everyone worked together, and it turned into the perfect outdoor wedding.
DJ JP BonkerTonk! (Jens Jensen Reinke)
I’ve been a musician my whole life, piano at 5, guitar and drums as a teen, choirs and pit band in high school, and eventually producing electronic music and Dubstep. DJing grew naturally from that, and after getting great crowd reactions at clubs and theaters, I jumped into weddings and found my passion. Today, my wife Alexyss and I run Apple Tree Music: Weddings & Events.
Weddings are where I thrive. I’m known for reading the room, mixing a wild blend of genres, and bringing hype. I love crafting playlists from couples’ requests and watching the dance floor explode. I won Music Man’s “DJ of the Year” in 2023 and often get requested by name for niche and classic crowds alike.
I stay in close contact with couples through Zoom calls and planning portal reviews. I’ve DJ’d everything from Harry‑Potter‑themed weddings at Castle in the Clouds to culturally specific celebrations like Brazilian Hora Loca and Hava Nagila.
Favorite Moment: A bride grabbing the mic after the last dance to hype up the crowd and thank us for exceeding every expectation.
DJ Shawn Nicholson
I’ve been DJing since 2002 and performing weddings and events since 2010, with more than 500 events to date. Music has always been part of who I am. Growing up, my dad played guitar and often got together with a group of friends to play country and bluegrass music. I produced remixes and even released an album before DJing found me unexpectedly at Oasis in Portland, where Thursday nights quickly became a hit and launched my career.
I’m an open‑format DJ who loves blending genres, decades, and styles to keep the dance floor full. Every crowd has its own personality, and I enjoy figuring out what they’re responding to. Weddings are my favorite events because I love creating unforgettable moments and tailoring the music to each couple’s vision. I’ve been voted Portland’s Best DJ, packed clubs to capacity, and earned countless five‑star reviews from couples who appreciate my professionalism, flexibility, and ability to read the room.
I work closely with couples from the first conversation through the last dance, reviewing playlists, coordinating timelines, making clear announcements, and keeping the night flowing effortlessly. I’ve performed at nearly every major venue in Maine and New Hampshire.
Favorite Moment: Seeing a crowd erupt so loudly I can barely hear the music through my headphones.
DJ Jeff Foran
I’ve been DJing professionally since 2016 and have performed hundreds of events. My love for music started at 16 when I fell in love with my older brother’s rock band. I picked up drums, then guitar, and eventually moved to New Orleans and Las Vegas, working at House of Blues and seeing legends like Prince, Snoop Dogg, Tiësto, and Z‑Trip up close. Playing in bands taught me how to keep a dance floor alive long before I ever stepped behind a DJ booth.
Weddings are my favorite events because I love creating a soundtrack for a couple’s biggest day. My style is all about reading the room, mixing live, blending genres, and adapting to whatever the crowd is vibing with. I take requests, avoid anything the couple doesn’t want, and stay flexible so the night feels personal, energetic, and fun. I’ve earned top 5‑star recognition and keep that momentum at every performance.
I’m known for strong communication, attention to detail, and staying engaged with guests throughout the night. I work closely with couples from the first conversation through the last song, coordinating timelines, announcements, and special moments.
Favorite Moment: Lending my guitar so the bride’s father could perform “My Girl” for a first dance.
DJ Rob Burnell
I grew up in central Maine and started performing young as a singer/songwriter before picking up DJing along the way. Music has always been my career, my passion, and the thing that’s supported me and my family. I stay driven to be a step above the average DJ, delivering a professional experience from the moment I walk in to the moment I leave.
I DJ weddings, corporate events, clubs, festivals, and private parties. I’m known for reading a room and keeping people moving all night with energetic mixes, quick transitions, and a wide knowledge of music across eras. I avoid outdated, overplayed wedding songs and line dances so the night feels fresh, modern, and fun, never like “that DJ from last year who completely sucked.”
Favorite Moment: Performing a close friend’s first dance live on guitar. The whole barn felt electric.
DJ Foxy (Meredith Hillman)
I’ve been DJing since 2016 and have performed more than 225 events. I grew up in a family of musicians and music nerds. My brother Ben (also a DJ) made me my first mix tape, and my mom taught me piano, rhythm, tempo, and how to really listen to music. That foundation shaped everything about how I DJ today.
I mostly perform at clubs and weddings, plus private and community events. I gravitate toward goth, 80s new wave and post‑punk, disco, funk, and pop, and I avoid country and rap so I can lean fully into my lane. I’ve been voted one of Portland’s Top Ten Best DJs and once played the State Theatre for a crowd of over 1,000 people.
I’m easy to work with and keep people dancing. I reach out early, stay in touch throughout planning, and meet with couples to fine‑tune details.
Favorite Moment: Filling in last‑minute for a DJ who had a medical emergency. I arrived within 90 minutes, set up during the awards ceremony, and rocked the dance floor for two hours.
DJ Mike Pomp
I’ve been a mobile DJ since the late 70s and early 80s, spinning everything from vinyl to digital and playing every type of event you can imagine. Weddings, reunions, corporate events, clubs, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, family gatherings, Celebration of Life events, I have thousands of hours behind the decks and still love every minute of it.
Music has been my life. I work full‑time in radio broadcasting, and those skills naturally carried over into DJing. My style is welcoming, fun, and focused on creating a memorable atmosphere. I read the crowd, take requests, and play familiar music people know and love. Clients often recognize my voice and MC style, and I’ve earned awards like Personality and Broadcaster of the Year in New Hampshire.
I make planning stress‑free by walking clients through the process, shaping timelines, talking through music likes and dislikes, and making sure they feel confident working with an experienced DJ.
Favorite Moment: Hearing clients say it was one of the best nights they’ve ever had.
DJ 2Tows (Matt Towey)
I’ve been DJing since 2006 and have performed more than 2,200 events. I grew up in Belfast surrounded by vinyl and learned early how to blend, scratch, and create music that moves people. I’m an open‑format DJ and music producer, known for live remixing, unlikely mashups, and reading a room with precision.
I love weddings, corporate events, school dances, and private parties, but corporate and private events let me really let loose. Couples work directly with me from the first inquiry to the last song, and I make planning easy with a detailed timeline and music worksheet.
Favorite Moment: Using a chipmunk effect to rescue a disastrous best man speech.
DJ Jason Paquette
I’ve been DJing since 2014 and have performed more than 100 weddings along with school events and dances. I was raised by two music teachers and have taught music myself for 20 years, so DJing came naturally. If I’m behind my table, I’m smiling.
I love blending decades, reading the room, and creating a night that feels fun for every generation. Couples often tell me I feel like a second wedding coordinator because I’m organized, communicative, and always ready to help.
Favorite Moment: Helping save a wedding when half the waitstaff quit. I jumped in, ran salads, cleared tables, and kept the night on track without anyone noticing.
Owner/DJ Jason Strycharz
I’ve been DJing since 2010 and have performed more than 500 weddings and events. I grew up in Kennebunk as a proud band geek who lived behind a drum set, played in every concert group I could, and even gigged in bars at fifteen. Music has always been home for me.
My style is all about reading the room, mixing live, and keeping the dance floor moving with Funk, Disco, Motown, Pop, and EDM. Couples tell me I’m easy to work with and that I feel more like a friend than a vendor, which is exactly the experience I want them to have.
As the owner of The Music Man DJ Service, I’m with my couples from the first conversation to the last song. I help shape the music vision, guide the planning, and make sure the whole day feels smooth, joyful, and unforgettable.
Favorite Moment: A groom danced so hard the bottoms of his shoes fell off!
