Some of our favorite Portsmouth area wedding venues

Knowing the venue, from load-in logistics to the event staff, is a real advantage when it comes to providing wedding entertainment. Here are a few of our favorite venues.

Start with a ceremony under the gazebo or the hillside lawn, then head over to the pool for cocktails, followed by a reception in the ballroom at classic waterfront resort Wentworth by the Sea. Each sound system is carefully selected to work in harmony with the location. And with the right lighting, the ballroom’s chandeliers and ornate walls light up like kaleidoscopes.

MUSIC MAN INSIGHT: From a DJ standpoint, it’s perfect for couples who want that “wow” factor. Outdoor ceremonies with ocean views transition beautifully into indoor receptions, and the spaces allow us to scale the energy from classy and relaxed to a full-on dance party!

This convenient, full-service hotel has picturesque waterfront views from the ballroom windows. Enjoy an outside ceremony at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel, but have a beautiful Plan B in case it rains. Cocktail hour works well in the pre-function area adjoining the Grand Ballroom, accommodating 250. Smaller weddings are also welcome with other spaces working for 100-120 guests, like the Harbor’s Edge Room.

MUSIC MAN INSIGHT: The ballroom is perfectly designed for weddings that build energy throughout the night. The space gives us plenty of room to create a strong sound setup and lighting experience, while the layout keeps guests connected to the dance floor.

You’ll find classic coastal elegance for wedding receptions of up to 250 at The Venue at Portwalk Place. Soaring ceilings and natural light define the Harpswell Ballroom and adjacent pre-function space. Use the ballroom for a sophisticated ceremony and entertain just outside its doors for cocktail hour while the first-rate staff turns the room for your beautiful reception.

MUSIC MAN INSIGHT: We love the modern, open feel and how well the space carries sound. It’s ideal for creating a lively, club-style atmosphere while still keeping things elegant. Being right in downtown Portsmouth also adds to the energy and we’ve found that guests arrive ready to celebrate!

If your wedding vision includes country club charm, but you aren’t a member of a club, Portsmouth Country Club welcomes nonmembers for wedding receptions and other special occasions. The covered patio provides an outdoor ceremony location or spot for cocktail hour. Then you and your guests will enjoy dinner and dancing in the club’s ballroom. The staff prides itself on flexibility and customizing menus, from plated portions to upscale barbecue buffet.

MUSIC MAN INSIGHT: The room layout keeps the dance floor full without feeling crowded, and the overall vibe helps build momentum, keeping guests engaged from introductions through the last song.

Lighting makes it a colorful celebration!
