A Misty Mountaintop New Hampshire Wedding

As the Owner of The Music Man DJ Service, it’s always a rewarding experience to perform at weddings. But it was a special privilege to serve as DJ for fellow event professional Nick Eaton and his lovely bride Jessica at their mountaintop New Hampshire wedding. From mountaintop ceremony to last dance, it was an honor to provide the soundtrack for their most special day.
The couple: Nick and Jess Eaton
Nick and Jess built a years-long friendship before Nick popped the question while on vacation at Marco Island, FL. After dinner and a boat cruise, Nick proposed on the beach at Kiss Island. On the way back to Marco Island, Mother Nature provided a beautiful sunset, and dolphins accompanied them home.
Two years later, this fun-loving couple said “I Do” at Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway, NH. With their love of nature, it was no surprise that the couple chose an outdoor early summer ceremony on top of the mountain. And even the midst provided its own unique backdrop.
The outdoors, travel and adventure are all part of Jess and Nick’s “couple DNA”. Their experiences have taken them around the world. So, it was only right that their wedding theme was “Adventure Awaits”.
Rising to the occasion

I’ve had the distinction of working with Nick at numerous weddings. He’s the creative force behind award-winning Life In Focus Photography and Videography in Maine. It was nice to see my colleague and friend actually enjoying a wedding instead of working it.
Since Nick’s an event pro, the pressure was on to deliver a great day that didn’t include stereotypical music and moments you often see at weddings. And with a wide range of generations in attendance, it was also important to provide dance floor appeal to all ages.
DJs are known to rise to the occasion. And this time it was literally! The wedding ceremony at the mountain summit required taking DJ gear up on a chair lift. Crazy and awesome at the same time! Music Man DJ Service used a completely battery powered system, ensuring the ceremony went off without a hitch.
Mother Nature veiled in mist

Guests were also transported to the summit by chair lift. Traveling through the mountain mist gave another layer of intimacy to this outdoor wedding. Nick and Jess requested an “unplugged” ceremony and graciously provided a photo op to the guests before the start.
One of the most special parts of their ceremony, created by the couple, was the building of a stone cairn. They used this ancient Celtic tradition to stack stones of balance, intention, and the shared journey ahead. For Nick and Jess, it symbolized the strength and permanence of their love.
After the ceremony, the guests took the chair lift back down the mountain for cocktail hour while the couple, wedding party and family took photos. Then everyone came together for a heartwarming and high energy reception in the resort’s Fairbank Lodge.
Personal reception style

With their love for the outdoors and adventure, the couple’s passion was expressed in many ways, from the photos on display to table numbers, signage and their cake topper. Everything was an expression of their new matrimonial adventure. Even the wedding gift Jess chose for Nick, a compass, symbolized their next great adventure.
Nick and Jess were so happy to be surrounded by their families and friends. And they honored those who were with them in spirit with a memory table. The couple, especially Jess, love animals. In lieu of favors, they made a donation to the New Hampshire SPCA.
Let’s get the party started!
This New England wedding reception had everybody bringing the moves. The celebratory energy was infectious! And for me, the highlight of the night was the couple’s departure in a classic pickup truck after a sparkler sendoff.

The vendors who made this day so special
Renee and Jerica from Strange Events handled the day with panache, along with Nathalie Ouellette from Cranmore Mountain Resort. Austin Wilder and his assistant Melissa of South End Digital covered every aspect of the wedding, while Derek Thompson and his assistant Ryan from Life in Focus brought the day to life in sight and sound. Thank you, Nick and Jess, for sharing your wedding gallery in this blog post.
Finishing touches included florals from Ruthies Flower Shop, desserts and cake from Autumn Nomad, and hair & makeup by Nick Edes of Naviina Salon.
